Executive portraits aren't headshots — they're how the public reads your judgment.
An executive portrait gets used everywhere a team headshot doesn't: 10-K filings, board books, S-1 drafts, Forbes interviews, conference websites, prospectus inserts, association bios. The image needs to survive being printed at 12 inches and rendered as a 96-pixel circle on LinkedIn — and read as the same person. Most so-called executive sessions don't account for that range.
We treat these as one-on-one shoots, not part of a team day. A senior photographer (15+ years on editorial assignments for Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune, and similar masthead) directs the session personally. Lighting is built around the subject's face structure — Rembrandt, loop, or short-side depending on bone geometry — using a Profoto B10 Plus through a 5-foot Octa as the key, a V-flat for negative fill, and a hair light through a strip box for separation. Studio backdrops are Oliphant Studio hand-painted muslin in two neutral tones; on-location work uses a portable Savage Storm Gray or a chosen wall in your office.
Wardrobe consultation is included. Most executives bring three options; we shoot two. Retouching is editorial-grade — natural skin texture preserved, color matched to your firm's identity palette, and IPTC metadata embedded so PR and investor-relations teams can drop the file into a wire photo desk without losing attribution.

How is this different from your team headshot service?
Different buyer, different deliverable. Team headshots are a single morning, one lighting setup, the entire org in one frame language — efficient, cohesive, $4,500+. Executive portraits are 1:1 sessions with a senior photographer, custom-lit per face, editorial retouching, and a multi-format file kit for filings and press. We routinely shoot both for the same client: team headshots quarterly, executive sessions ahead of an annual report or fundraise.
Will the photos work for an S-1 or annual report?
Yes. We deliver Adobe RGB TIFF masters at 300 dpi for offset print, CMYK conversions on request, and embed IPTC caption + photographer credit metadata that printers and SEC filing services expect. We've shipped photography for filings ranging from venture-backed S-1s to FTSE 100 annual reports.
Do you photograph at our office or in your studio?
Either. About 60% of executive sessions happen on-location — typically the executive's own office or a chosen conference room. Our Tribeca studio is the alternative when calendars are tight or when the office isn't visually controllable. Both are priced identically; the studio is just faster to set up.
What's the turnaround for press-ready files?
48 hours for the standard package. If a wire-photo desk needs a same-day file (Bloomberg breaking news, IPO morning, M&A announcement), we can deliver a single retouched file within 4 hours of the session. Same-day delivery is +$650 and must be booked in advance.
Who owns the photos? Can we use them anywhere?
You receive a 2-year unlimited usage license — internal, external, web, print, press, conference, prospectus. Renewal after year two is $750 per executive. We retain copyright and the right to include unobjectionable images in our portfolio (subject to a written carve-out for confidential subjects, which we honor without exception).
Do you direct the wardrobe?
We send a one-page guide before the session and are available for a 15-minute pre-shoot wardrobe call. On-set, we'll review three outfit options, pick the strongest two, and steam any wrinkles before shooting. We don't mandate a uniform — we make sure what each executive wears reads well at thumbnail.
